Manfred Grassauer:
After arriving in Prague I walked all the way to the hotel and the moment I came in Kenny Lovelace stepped out of the elevator. I hadn't seen him for 6 years now, but he
remembered eveything from years ago. Always the helpful gentleman, he invited me to drive with the band as well as with Niek and Christian to the Lucerna Palace,
which looks like an old ballroom from the last century. After a rather difficult soundcheck (with Niek rocking on the piano) everybody was looking forward to the Show.
In the evening the place was packed - lots and lots of people and there was a celebration of 50 years of Rock 'n' Roll with numerous Czech singers (ranging from suberb
to terrible). Finally at 9.40 the band went on stage and did their 4 numbers. Then Jerry walked out, dressed in a dark jacket, light pants and black shoes -
looking very elegant and cool.
He complained about not hearing the piano at the beginning and the problem was never really solved, but fortunately this time it
didn't spoil the great mood Jerry was in. I hadn't seen Jerry since 98 and did not expect too much of the concert, but I really was blown away by the energy he still
has and the powerful voice, not to mention his piano playing - What a genius!!! Let's hope he will be back next year.
Peter Molecz:
The show was nearly 50
minutes and I must say, it was a great show! More than 3000 people in a barock styled historical ballroom. All the seats were sold out before we knew about this show! But I had
luck, I had the best place standing in the first row in front of the stage, could see the piano very good!
At 8.00pm some of the older Czech rock´n' rollers opened with
well-known rock´n roll songs. The show was nearly sold out. In the audience there was the President of the Cech republic - Waclav Klaus - too!
Jerry came on the stage at
9.45 pm and the crowd went wild. He looks very good, much better than on most of the latest photos. His voice and piano playing was very strong and Jerry enjoyed the black Grand
piano. He had problems with the words of Lewis Boogie, which he mixed with Drinkin´Wine and High School Confidential and stopped. After he got some lyrics from Kenny and B. B.
Cunningham he continued with Drinkin` Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee which had a mixed beginning again.
